Nagpur: Two employees of different finance companies were booked for abetment to commit suicide by Wadi police, after their names came to fore in investigations into the suicide of Mahesh Patil near his quarter within Ordnance Factory premises last week.
Patil, engaged as a labourer at Ordnance Factory, was found hanging from a ceiling rafter of the staircase at an unoccupied quarter in the adjacent premises.
Patil, learnt to be addicted to liquor, lived at his quarter with his wife and daughter. He had apparently procured loans from Mahindra Finance and Bajaj Finance companies for some reasons, which are yet to be discovered by police.
A senior police official said that no one in the family, including his wife, were even aware that Patil had taken the loans. Patil’s elder brother has, however, claimed to have seen finance company representatives coming to the quarters on a couple of occasions.
It was only after his death that the family came to know that Patil was being harassed by the finance company representatives. He has named Sachin Brahme of Mahindra Finance, and Amit Naharkar of Bajaj Finance in the suicide note, which was found in his trouser pocket.
