Retail sales fall unexpectedly in January

Retail sales slipped back unexpectedly in January, following on from December’s dip. Tesco hails ‘strong progress’ as sales rise

Tesco has reported a rise in Christmas sales, helped by strong demand for fresh food. Jaguar Land-Rover and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars have both reported a rise in annual sales for 2016.
